Wondering when is the best time to visit Budva? Honestly, any time works!
Sure, Budva shines as a summer hotspot, but it’s amazing year-round. Stunning landscapes, a deep blue sea, and snow-capped mountains in the background create a breathtaking view. Add to that incredible nearby attractions and the best nightlife on the coast. No matter when you visit, Budva will welcome you with open arms!
Sunshine, Long Days & Mediterranean Magic
Budva is one of the sunniest places in the Mediterranean. Whether you stay for a short getaway or a long vacation, the sunshine will lift your spirits!
In June and July, you’ll enjoy 15 hours of daylight and 10 hours of sunshine each day. It’s the perfect setting for lazy beach days and unforgettable sunsets. What’s more, sunshine sticks around all year. Even in December, the month with the shortest days, you still get 9 hours of daylight and around 3 hours of sunshine—just enough to enjoy a coffee by the sea.
Summer in Budva: Sun, Sea & Endless Fun
Budva enjoys a classic Mediterranean climate—hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. In July and August, temperatures almost always exceed 30°C (86°F). The warm season stretches from April to November, with occasional showers early and late in the season.
☀️ When does summer begin?
The sea season officially starts on May 1st with the Great Carnival of Budva. This vibrant, fun-filled festival lasts four to five days and is an experience you won’t want to miss!
🌊 How warm is the sea?
In May, the sea temperature stays above 18°C (65°F). By July and August, it reaches a delightful 26–28°C (79–83°F)—perfect for swimming, diving, and all-day beach fun!
🍷 When does summer end?
Technically, summer closes with the Sirun Days Festival in early October. This event celebrates fish, wine, and music right in front of Budva’s charming Old Town. But don’t pack away your swimsuit just yet! The sea remains warm enough for swimming until late October—and sometimes even into November, especially between 12 PM and 3 PM, when the sun is strongest.
Winter in Budva: Mild, Sunny & Peaceful
Winters in Budva are mild, with plenty of sunny, spring-like days. Yes, it does rain from time to time, sometimes for several days in a row. But just when you think winter has settled in, the sun appears, and suddenly, it feels like spring again!
It’s not unusual to sit on the beach in short sleeves, sipping coffee, and soaking in the warm winter sun. That’s the Mediterranean magic of Budva!
My favorite time to visit Budva is in September
I’ve thought about this a lot because I truly love Budva in every season. But if I had to choose, September wins!
✅ The weather? Still warm and sunny, but not too hot.
✅ The sea? Perfectly warm, making every swim feel amazing.
✅ The crowds? Fewer tourists, yet bars, clubs, and restaurants are still open and lively.
It’s the best of both worlds—summer vibes without the summer rush!
