Alongside Jaz, Drobni Pijesak is my favorite beach in Budva. This place makes you forget about time, and after just one day there, you’ll feel as rested and relaxed as if you’ve been away for at least a week.
Bright, almost white sand and pebbles create a stunning setting for the unbelievably clear, light blue sea. The beach is surrounded by wild and lush Mediterranean vegetation and large white rocks. The serene atmosphere of this tucked-away haven will captivate you, and the light blue sea will wash away all the stress you might have felt.
Although its name means “Ground Sand,” the beach is not entirely sandy. Instead, it’s a gorgeous combination of sand and white pebbles. The entrance to the sea varies, with sandy spots and pebbly areas. To the right, there’s a smaller rocky part of the beach.
The seabed is clean, and you can see it even at great depths. Naturally, Drobni Pijesak has a Blue Flag, a mark of exceptional water and beach quality.
The beach is not crowded. It’s very peaceful and feels like a world of its own. There’s not much to do except swim, snorkel (highly recommended here due to the clear water), and sunbathe. And that is more than enough!
You can rent sunbeds with umbrellas, but there is also plenty of space to put down your own towel. You can get a drink or lunch at one of two beach restaurants: Pura Vida and Smokov Vijenac – both are good, and prices are reasonable.
The main downside of this beach is the road to it. Despite the good parking options – there are actually three, costing 5 EUR per day – the road is so steep that you have to drive very, very carefully.
Even though we visited the beach with a baby and a toddler in the back of the car, if you’re traveling with your little ones, I would recommend taking a boat from Budva city center.
Drobni Pijesak is a 20-minute drive from Budva city center, so you can get there by car, taxi, or local bus. Once you see it, no matter how you get there, I’m sure you’ll want to return.
